There are seven major biomes...

Taiga
The coniferous evergreen forests of subarctic lands, covering vast areas of northern North America and Eurasia.
Tundra
Home of the vast, nearly level, treeless plains of the arctic regions of Europe, Asia, and North America.
Savanna
A plain characterized by coarse grasses and scattered tree growth, especially on the margins of the tropics where the rainfall is seasonal, as in eastern Africa.
Temperate Deciduous Forest
Temperate deciduous forests or temperate broad-leaf forests are dominated by trees that lose their leaves each year. They are found in areas where warm, moist summers alternate with mild winters.
Grasslands
Land, such as a prairie, on which grass predominates.
Tropical Rainforest
Luxurious forest, generally composed of broad-leaved trees and found in wet tropical uplands and lowlands around the Equator.
Desert
A region so arid because of little rainfall that it supports only sparse and widely spaced vegetation or no vegetation at all.
